Race Road Wetlands
Race Road, Elkridge Maryland 21075
Size: 0.5 mile wetland adjacent to Race Road.
Habitat: A shallow beaver-created wetland surrounded by deciduous trees. Wetland contains snags and extensive areas of emergent vegetation; mudflats emerge during droughts.
Best Months: March to December (or freeze-up).
Coverage Time: 30 minutes to an hour.
Trails/Paths: No obvious trails. Most viewing is from Race Road.
Notable Birds: Gadwall, Blue-winged Teal, Northern Shoveler, Northern Pintail, American Bittern, Great Egret, Little Blue Heron, Black-crowned Night-Heron, Yellow-crowned Night-Heron, White Ibis, Least Tern, Prothonotary Warbler, Rusty

Handicapped Access: Limited, except from a vehicle in the gravel parking area.
Operation and Hours: Maryland state parkland; dawn to dusk along a public road.
Special Attractions: This heavily vegetated Coastal Plain wetland could attract almost any marsh or water bird.
Nearby Sites: Avalon/Orange Grove, Rockburn Branch Park.
