| Details: ROUTE: After gathering at the west parking lot, 23 participants walked south to the loop trail and followed it counterclockwise, then up to Emmy’s Meadow, before returning to the loop trail to head fully around the lake and back to the parking lot. WEATHER: Sunrise at 07:18. Mostly cloudy, 41°F at start and warming to 46° by end, with ground level wind of 5 mph out of the east. Sunrise: 07:16. NOTES: Songbird activity was relatively low and quiet, save for songs from a few resident species coming into breeding. We stopped at a Barred Owl roost to explore some pellets, one of which contained an entire Cardinal skull and bones. Others contained House Finch and Meadow Vole skulls. | |
