Wherever there were old barns and silos in Howard County, there were probably Barn Owl nests

It was also profitable at that time to call on a qualified bander to record vital data about this usually eluisive species.

With willing bird club members helping, there were also opportunities to photo a bird after it was banded.

While not necessary for common species, it is good to get into the habit of including photographs and recordings/spectrographs so that you do it for uncommon species that require more documentation.
