Young Birder Walk at Howard County Conservancy
Trip leaders: Roshan Vignarajah & Vitus Li Recorder: Roshan Vignarajah Photographer: Vitus Li |
Date of trip: March 30, 2025 |
Location: Howard County Conservancy | Number attending: 14 |
Details: Weather: Unusually hot, over 70 degrees; cloudy in the morning clearing up to blue skies around 10:30. Wind south. A Palm Warbler and a singing Brown Creeper were the highlights of this trip.
Not a bird: Proof that we are always learning, was this Eastern Chipmunk that was making “knock, knock”-cuckoo-like sounds in the woods versus the shrill chip we often hear. Seen by young birder Jayden Ward, who then researched its calls to solve the mystery of the “phantom cuckoo.” Gregg Petersen |
