Location: Howard County Conservancy at Mount Pleasant | Number attending: 22 |
Details: Braving the drizzle, HCBC members hosted an optics try-out event on Saturday, September 28th at the Howard County Conservancy (HCC). The event attracted a number of interested members of the public (both local and from other counties) who’d heard of this opportunity to try out different makes, models, and price ranges of binoculars and spotting scopes. A short introductory PowerPoint presentation outlining considerations when making buying decisions played on a loop inside the HCC’s Gudelsky Environmental Education Center while club members demonstrated their equipment and let attendees try them on for size on the upstairs covered deck. The mist and drizzle actually may have been an unintended bonus, since the low light provided excellent conditions for evaluating the light-gathering capabilities of the many binoculars and scopes. The optics PowerPoint is available under the Beginning Birding/Resources/Choosing binoculars tab on the HCBC website |
