Details A butterfly walk was held at Mt. Pleasant on Saturday, August 5th from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. This walk was originally scheduled on July 29th but was postponed to August 5th due to the high heat advisory on July 29th. The walk was co-sponsored by the Howard County Conservancy and the Howard County Bird Club. It was a cloudy day for most of the walk with a slight mist when the walk started. The sun came out about noon. The temperature was between 77 and 82 degrees.

The list of species seen is below. The walk covered the Community Garden, the Honor’s Garden, the Tulip Poplar trail to the butterfly garden, the Old Oak trail, and the Cedar trail back to the Community Garden. Four of the participants joined us at the butterfly Garden so we retraced our steps in the Community Garden. For the first time, many Spotted Lanternflies were seen particularly in the Community Garden.

Cloudy, misty to intermittent sun and clouds, community gardens, honors garden and adjacent trails; 120 nminutes. Temp 76-82. Cloud cover 50%
