Young Birder MOS Backpack Essay Contest

Are you a young person or do you know a young person interested in birds but needs the equipment to do it? Then this is the contest for you! The Maryland Ornithological Society (MOS) and Howard County Bird Club (HCBC) have teamed up to provide you the opportunity to win a backpack, a pair of binoculars, a bird book AND a free one-year youth membership in the HCBC by completing a short essay (no more than 300 words) telling us how this would help your interest in birds!

Dates: March 1- March 31, 2025. Entry must be received by March 31, 2025.

Rules:

1. For classes K-12.
2. Entrant is a Howard County resident.
3. Entrant agrees to consider accepting the prize at the Howard County Bird Club meeting on May 8, 2025 (if possible).
4. Parent has given consent on enclosed form.

Please write an essay telling us how you could use a backpack, a pair of binoculars, and a bird field guide to improve your birding. If your essay is judged as the best, you will be the winner of this Young Birder MOS (YMOS) backpack and give your birding a boost!
