Howard County Bird Club

Natural History

Rare is the bird field trip where no one asks about some other aspect of the natural world. Fortunately, many of our members are interested in and knowledgeable about a wide variety of subjects involving natural history specific to Howard County. To encourage these interests, we have produced lists and keys of various kinds about butterflies, amphibians and reptiles (herps), dragonflies and damselflies (odonates), fungi, lichens, mosses, and bees.

Club members participate in the Maryland Biodiversity Project, an ongoing survey of all living organisms in the state. Check out their website and contribute to the project!
